Little Badass of the Week – There is a Reason Some People Have Pips While Others Don’t

Who is responsible for Soul Train no longer being on the air?  Where did it go?  How could we let something like this happen???

Oh the sad sad hole that is left behind in its funky wake.

Luckily, its legend lives on via YouTube and I’d like to nominate this Soul Train goodie as Little Badass of the Week because I can’t stop watching it.

Seriously.

It has captured my heart and yes, my soul, with its groovin crowd and their smokin moves, fine threads and rockin fros.

And that Gladys – I really do believe she was genuinely surprised when she heard it through the grapevine.  Don’t you know she loved you more than that other girl you knew before???  I sure as hell do now.  Could anyone sing it with more heart, conviction and in a better pantsuit?  The answer is no.  And don’t even get me started on the Pips.  The frikken Pips!  Oh my god.

I could easily fill every Wednesday’s Little Badass of the Week post with different videos of my favorite rockstars (couldn’t we all?) but I shant.  This one, however, renders me powerless against its charms.

Watch it every day and you will live a happy life.

Thank you, thank you, this really did brighten my day. That guy in blue off to the right about half way through was it. Soul Train certainly was a blast of a show! Reminds me of the weekend, kind of like Hee-Haw.

I’d love to have a Pip…but I’d prefer an oompa loompa.

    MY GOD. THAT VOICE.

My computer screen was dripping, oozing, from that performance with a powerful grace that rocked me.

    Whoa.

And… How fricken beautiful is SHE???

    Delicious.

While I will never dispute the power and beauty of Gladys’ voice or the Pips…i do wonder…where exactly do the cords for the mics go????
And with all the poly blends in that place, one match and it would be all over!
Sadly, Soul Train went the way of American Bandstand.

And don’t forget that insane bass she gets to groove her good stuff on!
